U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Sunday called climate change perhaps the world’s “most fearsome” destructive weapon and mocked those who deny its existence or question its causes, comparing them to people who insist the Earth is flat.
In a speech to Indonesian students, civic leaders and government officials, Kerry tore into climate change skeptics. He accused them of using shoddy science and scientists to delay steps needed to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases at the risk of imperiling the planet.

John Sandweg, a former defense attorney who knew former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano from their days as political allies in Arizona and came to Washington with her, gave his notice just six months after taking the reins in August. In a letter Friday to coworkers, Sandweg said he will return to work in the private sector but gave no explanation for his departure.

If anyone is interested in a Ruger SR1911 (stainless) there are 2 in 98% condition (maybe 2-3 mags through each), an H&K P30 90% condition, a S&W M&P 45 in 95% condition (didn’t feel like it had the Apex trigger mod), a Sig P200 ST .45 in 95% condition, and a Taurus Judge in polished stainless in 98% condition. I did come home with one pistol though…
Colt Woodsman 2nd Series, manufactured sometime between 1947 and 1950. Grips aren’t in real good shape, but overall the gun is pretty good shape AND there are four mags for it.

I did a low pass by the gun show late in the afternoon and I finally tracked down the guy with the bayonets that I’d stumbled across before…
Springfield Armory M1905 bayonet made in 1907, not perfect, but all there; and in a correct M1917 sheath (WWII issued)
And yes, I did get ‘paid’ in ammo…

Idjit 1- The asshole in the Mercedes that almost hit me yesterday, because he didn’t understand simple physics! Ice on street = NO grip, even if you ARE in a Mercedes. You cannot run up to the light at full speed and think you’re gonna stop and when you realize you aren’t, aiming at ME on the sidewalk is NOT the way to make friends… And it’s a good thing you didn’t get out of your car after my coffee went all over your windshield and hood after I had to jump out of your @$#%@ way, because I’ll guarantee I was NOT in good mood at that point…
Idjit 2- Maybe your little lowered rice rocket with the fart muffler is fast, but you SHOULD have known better than to try to bulldoze that snow (frozen over) just so you could get in the parking space… And yes, I laughed when you crumpled/splintered all that aero package you ‘had’ tacked on the front of your car…
The least you could have done was haul that junk off rather than leave it laying in the parking space/snowbank…
Idjit 3- The woman in the ballet style shoes that tried to cut across the snow rather than walking 15 feet to the cleared sidewalk…
We gave you a 1.0 for execution, a 2.1 for the landing cause you sure as hell DIDN’T stick it (unless you count landing flat on your ass in the puddle), but we gave you an 8.0 for invective… At least three languages, and words even all three of us retired sailors didn’t know…
And a bonus idjit… At the grocery store, I’m standing in line for my BP meds, and I see a lady leave her cart to walk down the aisle to look for something… Bonus idjit decides to ‘surf’ through the lady’s cart, and takes out a package of meat. Lets just say it was a GOOD thing a store manager came around the end of the aisle about the time the 1st lady got back to her cart…

But all the main roads were cleaned up by noon… Funniest thing seen was flipping through the channels this morning at a red Corvette and a red Porsche 911 stuck on 495, with a AAA truck just sitting behind them…

Best thing I saw? Kids and pieces of cardboard having a ball on a little hill in a park by the apartment… And what looked like a Husky puppy having a ball playing in the 9-12 inches of snow! 🙂

If you’re a Corvette aficionado, you’ve GOT to be crying in your beer today…
The National Corvette Museum at Bowling Green, KY had a sinkhole open under on of the exhibit structures… Thankfully no one was hurt or fell in the hole…

It is with heavy hearts that we report that eight Corvettes were affected by this incident. Those cars include:
- 1993 ZR-1 Spyder on loan from General Motors
- 2009 ZR1 “Blue Devil” on loan from General Motors
The other six vehicles were owned by the National Corvette Museum including:
- 1962 Black Corvette
- 1984 PPG Pace Car
- 1992 White 1 Millionth Corvette
- 1993 Ruby Red 40th Anniversary Corvette
- 2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette
- 2009 White 1.5 Millionth Corvette
Having visited the place a few times, as as a former (and someday again) Corvette owner, I can only say I’m heartbroken for them; as these ‘are’ special cars in the Corvette world…
Thankfully none of the privately owned loaner cars were involved and hopefully they can recover and repair the cars that are in the hole…

Corvette folks are a lot like gunnies, in that there are collectors, and drivers… And 95% of them are genuinely good folks that would help you out any way they could! Just like we go, “Ya wanna shoot this?” They’ll go, “Ya wanna drive mine?”
One of my fondest memories is a car show we did at Bowling Green back in the late 90’s and I took the kids with me. We got a private tour of the assembly plant and museum, and they got to start two brand new Corvettes on the assembly line. I and a few others got to drive the then brand new C5s that had been brought in for the press to drive; and I remember bombing down a Kentucky back road at well over the legal limit and turning to the GM rep in the right seat and asking what kind of insurance they had on the cars…
When he told me none, I babied that sucker all the way back, much to his amusement…
