Burnt Ends…

Is ALIVE!!! 🙂

Click the cover for the link!

Yes, I violated every principle of cover art with this one… Tina did what I asked, putting slices of the other covers on this cover, and did a helluva job with it..:-)

This one is ONLY in paperback, for my three dinosaur readers that want a real book in their hands. It is my collected short stories and novellas, that were published online only, plus one short that was in an anthology.

The stories include-

Rocking C- Zombies (published in an anthology in 2016)

Stranded and Jace- Two Mil SF stories

A Matter of Honor and The Morning the Earth Shook- Two stories in the Calexit vein

To the End of the Trail- A new story from the Western series coming in 2020

And two Grey Man novellas- Down South and Generations

I will apologize ahead of time for the cost, but since it’s print on demand, I don’t have a lot of control over that. I tried to keep it as reasonable as possible. I hope y’all enjoy the stories, and HONEST reviews are appreciated as always.

TBT…

My crew coming back from a successful ASW mission against the bad guys back in the day. We flew the flag when we had done what we were supposed to, and it usually pissed the Skipper off… I got ‘counselled’ more than once, so this one is probably on a det somewhere, and was taken by one of our ground crew. 🙂

We even had business cards… LOL

And some other strange stuff I got to do… Not my picture, I was buried in the back of the bird doing other things…

The kids serving today have different mission sets than we did, but we OWE IT TO THEM to support them. We’re dinosaurs…

And we have an anthology…

Interesting little things happen at writer cons…

Like this- Literally got put together over two days!

HERE is the link for SPOTREPS – A Maelstrom Rising Anthology.  And I’m VERY happy to be part of this one. There are some damn good writers involved, and I get to play in somebody else’s universe!

The writers are:

Larry Correia
Mike Kupari
LawDog
Brad Torgersen
James Rosone
Mike Massa
Steven Hildreth, Jr.
David Reeder
Chris Hernandez
Jonathan LaForce

I’ve already written my first draft and am waiting for feedback, but I’ll share the opening paragraphs of my story-

Ranger Enrique Sandoval sat in his black Tahoe at the burnt-out remains of the Love’s Truck Stop on I-40, just east of Amarillo. He fiddled with the radio squelch and volume, making sure it was high enough to hear over the wind, then turned the AM radio down as he looked at his watch. I hope Austin knows what they’re doing. Sit out here and wait for a radio call from Leroy Jenkins, then meet with… Hell, I don’t even know who these people are that I’m supposed to meet. Triarii? Some kind of quasi-military group? And they’re running a convoy of supplies. From where to where? And I’m not to ask questions, or try to pull them over, or let anybody else in law enforcement know about it. This is fu…

The radio suddenly came alive on the Ranger’s tactical frequency. “Lone Star, Leroy Jenkins. Lone Star, Leroy Jenkins, how copy?”

Enrique keyed up. “Leroy Jenkins, have you lima charlie. I am at the designated meet point. Black Tahoe.”

“Leroy Jenkins is ten out. One vehicle, M1117, will approach you.”

“Roger.”

This one is going to be a fun read, with all the different perspectives and authors, I’m REALLY looking forward to it!

State of the writer…

I haz a tired. I can’t word…

Just finished an 8000 word short for an anthology, then alpha read for another author.

I think my brains are pudding about now… Completing the final corrections pass on Burnt Ends today, and hope to have it live next week. It’s for my dinosaur readers who want an actual paperback.

Thanks to help from John Van Stry, I did get the page count down, and it will go out the door at $16.50 for a little over 140,000 words.

It is a collection of my short stories and novellas that were published online, plus one new short story from the western series I’m in the process of researching.

And in response to a sarcastic email about my earlier post on the Boeing Clippers, I give you this…

Winning friends…

NOT!!!

The lawmakers in Virginia continue their spiral down the rathole of gun control yet again. This time rather blatantly…

A state senator claimed he was told by the Democratic Senate Majority Leader that sheriff’s departments would not be getting a pay increase because many sheriffs have voiced opposition to gun control legislation.

Full article, HERE from Channel 6.

There is doing things behind closed doors and pandering to the media with some kind of BS sob story about the money not being available, yada, yada, then there is just flat telling the truth…

This time I ‘think’ the truth got out, possibly much to the Dem’s detriment come November. The last thing any politician wants to do, at least in most places, is to piss off law enforcement. Virginia, and the Dems in particular, don’t seem to care.

We’re going to need more popcorn if this keeps up!

Back in battery…

HIGHLY recommend any of William Aprill’s classes. Excellent speaker, breaks things down where everyone can understand it, and has no problem calling BS on things that don’t make sense.

In other news, this is a rather ‘interesting’ development that somebody got a shot of…

Tu-95 Bear MS loaded with 8 KH101(ASCM), NOT something I’ve ever seen before.

The 5300lb KH-101/102 (400 kg conventional warhead/450 kT nuclear warhead) has a range of 2,800–3,400 mi. The first use was from an SU-34 fighter dropping ONE of these against the Syrians in 2015. That is a LOT of weight and firepower to hang on a Bear….

With accurate Nav systems it is predicted to have, this could be a game changer…

Out of pocket…

Off site attending a course with William Aprill on criminal minds. No commenting or posting today, as it’s an all day course.

You can check out his blog, HERE.

I’ll be back on Sunday.

In honor of Bloomie…

And his first ‘appearance’ in a debate…

Not that he did real well… 🙂

Matter of fact, IF the reports are accurate, he got hammered by Warren et al pretty soundly!

TBT…

Do you remember???

Playing pickup baseball games in the summer without adults anywhere around?

Record players… and the little inserts you had to put in the 33 and 45 records?

And how many of us had one of these play sets? I did…

And last but not least… Medicine bottles without all the anti-tamper crap and caps that you need a college degree to get open?

And yet we survived… in spite of ourselves… LOL

Ouchie…

Had to go get back x-rays yesterday…

Not a lot of fun, got twisted into positions I couldn’t get into when I was MUCH younger. Hurts to sit, hurts to stand, so you get a meme while I try to get my back unkinked…

And yes, EXTREMELY grumpy yesterday…
