Isn’t THAT speshul…

The National Instant Background Check System (NICS) is only as good as the people running it. Whenever there’s a mass shooting, the Democrats want to expand background checks. Background checks are required for all gun purchases made at gun stores with a Federal Firearms License (FFL). It’s a myth that 40 percent of all gun sales are done without a background check. That line was debunked years ago, though you sometimes see it sneak its way into anti-gun talking points.

<snip>

In all, 1,002,274 background checks — or 4.2 percent — took longer than three business days in 2020 and 2021, 11,564 people were able to buy guns in 2020 and 2021 before the check showed that they should not have been allowed to do so, according to the FBI report.

But wait, there’s MORE!!!

The FBI never completed 734,604 checks from January 2020 through November 2021, the most recent data available, because they took longer than 88 days — after which the bureau must stop its research and purge the unfinished checks from its system.

Full article, HERE, from Town Hall.

Sooooo, roughly 25,000,000 checks were done in 2020-2021. And 4.2% of the checks missed the deadline, and of that number, roughly 74% of the missed checks were never completed… So they really don’t have a clue how many purchases were ‘illegal’…

Yet the left wants to expand NICS even more, and add ammo to it…

In other words, they are also saying they want to ‘hold’ purchases until the checks are completed, regardless of length of time. Which would have meant 745,604 people would have never been able to purchase a weapon in 2020-2021…

And this makes sense how???

I had hoped…

This was the Babylon Bee…

“We were assured Biden was releasing this oil to America so it could be refined for gasoline to drive down prices at the pump. So right off the bat, they’re just lying to the American people,” Turner said, adding “What they’re saying they did and what they did are not remotely related.”

Full article, HERE. From Town Hall.

But it’s not…

The Xiden administration sold 950,000 barrels of oil from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve to Unipec, a Chinese-owned gas company!

WTF???

I wonder if he’s getting his 10% for this too!

And apparently the ‘new’ leasing strategy is ONLY for the Gulf, and one very small plot in Alaska, noting off the east or west coasts, or not, depending on the mood in Washington. Article, HERE from CNBC.

There are some interesting statements in the article concerning the usual globull warming crap and the NRDC is, as usual, getting their oar in the water to push for terminating all leasing to ‘save the planet’…

Third world country, here we come! No fuel, no fertilizer, no food, and riots when the stores in cities run out of product.

Are we having fun yet???

25th is becoming more and more…

Applicable…

It’s difficult to think of anything funny to write about Joe Biden’s latest gaffe. The astonishing mental decline of this man is frightening, and if Democrats had an ounce of care for the United States, they’d either have an intervention to get Biden to leave or put pressure on the cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment and have him removed constitutionally.

Full article, HERE.

This is especially scary since we don’t know WHO is actually pulling the strings behind the scene, much less who is actually in charge at the WH. It’s becoming obvious that it is NOT Joe…

This is NOT something we need to be dealing with right now, especially with the turmoil going on in the world and the left’s continuing wussification of the military with pronouns, etc.

At last count, something like 11 countries are in uproar/coups in progress/other actions against the powers that be. The formerly Great Britain earlier in the week, and now Sri Lanka just being one of those, albeit a bit more…out there than some.

Sri Lanka crisis live: Sri Lanka’s beleaguered President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled his official residence in the capital on Saturday after protesters demanding the leader’s resignation stormed the president’s official residence. Soon after that, PM Ranil Wickremesinghe resigned, making way for an all-party government.

And they burned the Prime Minister’s house last night…

Twitter deal is off!!!

Elon Musk has said the Twitter deal is off, due to material breach of contract…

I think it’s coming down to the issues of bots and real users, but that’s just my guess.

The amount of popcorn needed for this one is gonna be EPIC!!!

Billionaire Elon Musk called off his deal to buy social media company Twitter, according to a filing on Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Skadden Arps attorney Mike Ringler said in a letter to Twitter’s chief legal officer that “Twitter has not complied with its contractual obligations.”  For nearly two months, the company has failed to provide Musk with information about fake or spam accounts, the letter said.

Full article, HERE from USA Today. Full letter details is HERE, to the SEC from the lawyers…

And apparently the Twits are now going to sue Musk to go through with the deal. Huh…

This is going to be interesting…

Boris Johnson is out as the UK prime minister…

Apparently among other things, the Queen has lost confidence in his ability to lead.

The U.K.’s next prime minister is likely polishing their campaign pitch after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced — belatedly, when all other options had evaporated — that he would be stepping down.

  • Half of Johnson’s government, some 59 ministers, had resigned by the time he approached a podium outside Downing Street to announce his exit (something he insisted through Wednesday evening he would not be doing).

Full article, HERE from Axios.

There are a number of dominos in play with this statement. Among other things, the future of BREXIT, NATO status, relations with the USA, and support (both monetarily and weapons) for Ukraine.

The next couple of months could be really interesting on the world stage. And one wonders what ‘our’ administration (whomever is running it) will do in response. I don’t know and honestly, I’m afraid to guess.

What say you?

Get woke, go broke…

Is not just here…

Halifax Bank in England went off the deep end…

Halifax Bank in the UK decided to do some virtue signaling, unveiling ads celebrating their pronouns. When customers objected, the bank tweeted “If you don’t like it, close your account.”

This is just so perfect a comeback from the customers, er…FORMER customers…

Compare and contrast…

Soooo, we have something interesting here…

First, prayers for ALL of those shot this weekend, and their families.

The Highland Park shooting, seven dead and thirty-seven injured. The shooter is in custody after a short search. The FBI, multiple agencies (possibly including the Secret Service), etc. all got involved almost immediately after the shooting. Even the President commented on it last night. And everyone is decrying the ‘mass shooting’

President Biden led a moment of silence Monday for the victims of a mass shooting at a Fourth of July parade near Chicago — two hours after he stunned listeners by hardly mentioning it in a speech on the White House lawn.

Full article HERE from the NY Post.

Now the contrast…

CHICAGO — Seventy one people were shot , eight fatally, in 4th of July holiday weekend shootings across the city, Chicago police said.

Full article, HERE from ABC7 Chicago.

But where was the outcry? Where were the FBI and other agencies? Where was the President?

Crickets… Because this is pretty much a ‘normal’ weekend in Chicago, nothing to see, move along…

NYC, the same thing! Fifty shot and either nine or twelve dead, depending on the report. Outcry? Nope… Crickets too…

Full article, HERE from NY Post.

And then there is the major of Philthydeliphia. Where the mayor flat out said if he could, he would ban guns for anyone but LEOs.

“If I had the ability to take care of guns, I would,” he said. “But the legislature won’t let us. Congress won’t let us. The governor does the best he can [and] the attorney general does the best he can, but this is a gun country. It’s crazy. We are the most armed country in world history and we are one of the least safe. So until Americans decide that they want to give up the guns and give up the opportunity to get guns we are going to have this problem,” the mayor proclaimed.

<snip>

“The only people I knew who had guns in Canada were police officers and that is the way it should be here. But look, in my lifetime, it is never going to happen. A lot of goofballs out there with guns and they can get them anytime they want, so this is what we have to live with,” Kenney said, according to 6 ABC.

Full article, HERE with quotes… Which you cannot find on a Google search, by the way…

So, if it’s a dem stronghold, like Chicago, or NYC, or Philly, shootings are okay, since it’s mostly black on black, and not ‘important’ to the leadership.

But let it happen in an ‘upscale’ area, which apparently Highland Park is, and it is a white shooter (therefore MUST be White patriarchy) and it hits the news cycle for two days.

I’m waiting the usual 72 hours to actually comment on the Highland Park shooting particulars, because as we all know, ‘details’ change with amazing rapidity in the first three days.

How about blaming the shooters? Whomever they may be? Regardless of ethnicity? How about actually enforcing the laws on the books? How about requiring the mental health records actually be inputted to the NICS database?

How about realizing that criminals never have and never will obey the laws??? Is that too hard?

When you defund the police, what is actually going on is that a non-lethal means of apprehension/stopping crimes is removed from the system. In states with CCW, what you have done is put that means of stopping crimes on those who carry, and they don’t HAVE non-lethal as an option!

Sigh…

I’ve mentioned before that I would NOT recommend the military to anyone today, due to the lack of leadership in the senior ranks…

But this article brings that out even better than I could!

Jump out of a perfectly good airplane, charge a machine gun nest, be stationed at Ft. Irwin – these are just three of the myriad miseries American patriots are willing to endure to defend our country. But today’s military is asking too much of our young people, as evidenced by the crashing recruitment rates that threaten to deplete a military already running short of soldiers. Have our young people suddenly turned from heroes to zeros, ne’er-do-well heirs of the brave warriors who confronted the forces of tyrannical gun control at Lexington and Concord?

And I’m just thankful there isn’t any time travel… Can you imagine???

Michael Ramirez for the win (as usual)!

Happy Independence Day!!!

While we celebrate on the 4th, the actual timeline was a ‘bit’ different…

On July 4, 1776,  the Second Continental Congress unanimously adopted the Declaration of Independence to announce the colonies’ separation from the Kingdom of Great Britain, the Library of Congress says.

The actual vote for independence actually happened two days earlier, History.com says – but July 4 is seen as the “birthday” of American independence.

The Fourth also isn’t when the Declaration of Independence was signed. According to the National Archives, delegates began signing the engrossed Declaration of Independence on Aug. 2 – starting with John Hancock’s famous signature.

John Adams wrote the following to his wife Abigail, on July 3, 1776:

“Yesterday the greatest Question was decided, which ever was debated in America, and a greater, perhaps, never was or will be decided among Men. A Resolution was passed without one dissenting Colony ‘that these united Colonies, are, and of right ought to be free and independent States, and as such, they have, and of Right ought to have full Power to make War, conclude Peace, establish Commerce, and to do all the other Acts and Things, which other States might rightfully do…’

The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable  Epocha, in the History of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival… . It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.”

Most of us will be doing just that, however there are some who…don’t agree with that sentiment.

Full article, HERE from the NY Post… Sigh…

For those of us in Tiny Town, Texas, we’ll be doing burgers, brats, and the usual sides with friends in SUPPORT of our independence!
